Autonomous robot to take on a "Ninja Warrior" style obstacle course
3D PRINTED TRANSMISSION
This transmission was designed by Design Credit to Eric Herrell on Thingiverse. I printed and assembled the transmission over a few weeks in Summer 2017. The 5 speed transmission with a reverse is based on a Toyota 22RE. Magnets have been added to the housings so that the covers stay on but are removable.
The transmission assembly uses bearings, metal rods as shafts, magnets and set screws. Some of these were glued in place but most were press fit. I had to ream out some holes due to the tolerances of the 3D printer causing some holes to come out a little smaller than desired. I used a dremel to grind small detents into the shafts to give gears a nice locking mechanism to hold them in place. I plan on adding a guide to the top piece to help shift through the 5 gears and into reverse more easily.
3D PRINTED BOAT CLIP
This is a clip to hold together a cover on a boat when collapsed. We had lost a few of them over several trips and find out where to get more so I decided to make a 3D printed copy of on of the remaining clips. I designed the model in SOLIDWORKS by taking measurments from one of the remaining original clips. They were 3D printed out of ABS and required a 100% infill to ensure they were strong enough to be used repeatedly. Check out the 3D clip in the viewer below.
